So let me tell you about the visit from Nick's family - his dad, stepmom, and grandmother. We all exchanged Christmas gifts because we haven't seen each other in a long time (since last summer when we all went to Maine). One of the gifts they got Nick was a karaoke microphone - which they proceeded to sing into ALL WEEKEND. These people drove me NUTS! His dad and stepmom are uber healthy fitness nuts, so they usually like to be very active, but they sat on our couch and sang song after song (many duets) on that damn karaoke microphone. On Saturday night, they literally sang from the afternoon to past midnight! I attempted to go to bed around 11 pm, but they had the tv turned up so loud and were screeching out these songs that I couldn't sleep! Our house is pretty small, so even with the bedroom door shut, there was no drowning out the noise. I don't think of myself as having sensory issues, but the noise level was bothering me SO much! And what did they proceed to do the next day? Sing karaoke, all day!! Nick absolutely loves to sing, but even he eventually got tired of it and wanted to take a break, but his dad and stepmom were just obsessed with it! I love to sing alone in my car, but not in front of others, so it wasn't really that fun for me to just sit there while everyone screeched out all of these songs for hours. Even our poor cat Ollie couldn't take much more - he literally hid in the back of our closet, as far away as he could get. He never hides like that! He was over it and I don't blame him one bit! While it was a nice visit, I was NOT sad to see them leave! lol my God, I have never seen people so karaoke obsessed in my life!
In other news, today is my "Friday" as I'm off tomorrow through the 19th! It's going to be a wonderful, well needed break from work.
Amber had an ultrasound yesterday and they've pretty much diagnosed her baby with "intrauterine growth restriction" (IUGR) as he is measuring about 2 weeks behind. They estimated the baby weighs 5 lbs, 2 oz. Of course, this worried Amber and she was Googling stuff and freaking herself out as to what this could mean. I think he's just a smaller baby because his dad is Asian. Amber's husband is 5'7 and weighs 130 lbs. I weigh as much as two of him almost! He's an extremely small, slim man, thanks to his own dad's Chinese genes and his mom's Thai genes. I told Amber she should be glad her baby hasn't seemed to inherit our family's humongous monster genes. Besides, the doctor did say the estimates could be off. He could be bigger (or smaller...eek) than what the measurements suggested. She's just frustrated that she's gained 40 lbs and not much of it seems to have gone to the baby lol. I think everything will be fine, she'll see. Amber and I both weighed just 3 lbs, 6 oz at birth and we turned out alright! Her baby will be just fine, too.
That's pretty much all I have to update on! I'll come back and update after my spring break to share how that all went.
